Martin's Working Nights Now

Martin had very little to live for. Every day of his mundane life bled into the next as the sole HR rep for a floundering department store.

A wife who had little patience for him and a four-year-old daughter who preferred to spend time with her imaginary friend made his home life just as dreary.

Finding himself with a rare weekend to himself, it’s perfect timing for an invitation for after-work drinks with a co-worker who actually remembered his name and a group of fellow employees.

Instead of the evening of bonding fun he had hoped for, he has a chance encounter with a commiserating stranger who sends his life barreling off course. When the drinks flow, misunderstandings lead to changes that cannot be undone.

Waking up the next day as a vampire ends up being much worse than the hangover he expected. Even more so when he finds his undead life is much the same as when he had a pulse.

The only difference is instead of dreary days, he’s stuck trying to balance life and death between sunset and sunrise with an appetite for fresh blood. That is, if his sire doesn't manage to get them both killed.

And to make matters worse, Martin’s working nights now.

The Corpse Flower Colony

At the turn of the nineteenth century, a group of eleven superstitious families from a small coastal village could see the writing on the wall. The world was changing, and they were not ready to be a part of what they saw building. The Edgar’s slice of land in Scotland would be the best place to live as they saw fit, even as Flora, the newly pregnant wife of Samuel Edgar, protested the idea. She begged them to see how the sea journey and starting anew on unbroken land would be just as perilous as staying put were ignored. A sudden storm and shipwreck on a desolate island proved Flora’s worries to be true.

Ten of the families would survive the devastating accident. The Edgars would not.

Over a century later, Amelia Taylor is a fifth-generation member of the strict and paranoid society that believes themselves to be cursed. Governed by the Privy Assembly, comprised of descendants of the original families, the power they wield makes leaving the island unthinkable. Secrets are held tight, and dangerous darkness flourishes as Amelia starts to doubt the powerful hold that Flora Edgar's curse could still hold over The Corpse Flower Colony.

Four individual stories woven together with the shadows that rule the night and hide in the corners of the day. The darkness that shapes our pasts and futures.

In Sheltered Shadows:
Fifteen-year-old Erica thinks her life is over and dreads the changes ahead when her family is forced to move into a rundown inherited home after her parents lose their jobs. Little does she know, the flickering lights within it create shadows that will pull her in and forever scar their lives.

Perpetual Past:
Clara has spent her life walking further away from her past and the horror that the villagers created. The voices of the ones who erased her from history and sullied the memory of her dear mother are always a few steps behind, and they are keen to keep up the lies that hold them as the heroes we know.

The Manner of Solitude:
Mort is a simple man. His house, his land, and his privacy are all he requires for a happy life. When people from the local town decide to bring some community cheer to whom they see as a lonely old man, they cast a deadly shadow over his peace. They soon learn that some people are better left alone.

The Sins of One:
Cayley spent her life dealing with the dark shadows that lived in her grandfather’s mind. Shadows that may have been the cause of her mother’s death. It isn’t until he is on his deathbed that he confides in her what that terror is – and that it’s coming for her next.

Into the Lake

Escaping the smothering life of suburbia for a lakeside home in the country was a dream come true for Kelly and Tom. The old farmhouse at the end of a long, lonely road was secluded and serene with sunsets that seemed to stretch on for miles. A perfect little place to make their forever home. Unfortunately, like most people, they did not put much thought into the reality that one decision, one quick moment in time, could change everything.

While celebrating their new home with a happy get together of a few friends, they had no idea how much a dinner party turned spirit board session would turn their paradise into a nightmare.

After Kelly finds the diary of the original family's daughter, there are more questions than answers about who - or what - is still lingering.

It does not take long for Kelly and Tom to learn that the past will never sink away....
